Introducing Our Skill Cards

Across Europe, industries are transforming at an unprecedented pace. The green and digital transitions are no longer distant ambitions, they are happening now, reshaping how we work, produce, and innovate.

Why Skill Cards?

As part of the Erasmus+ Blueprint project, we set out to answer a crucial question: what skills and competences will Europe’s workforce need to thrive in this new landscape?

Our research confirmed a growing gap: while innovative new roles are emerging, many workers, students, and employers are struggling to match today’s skills with tomorrow’s demands. Jobs such as Eco-Design Engineer or Analytics Translator are not futuristic concepts — they are already taking shape and will be critical to building a sustainable, competitive Europe.

To bridge this gap, we created the Skill Cards: concise, practical job profiles designed to clearly outline what each role does, what knowledge and competences it requires, and how it contributes to wider sectoral and societal goals.

What’s Inside a Skill Card?

Each Skill Card includes:

  • A clear description of the role and its responsibilities.

  • The essential skills and competences needed, including digital and green skills mapped to the ESCO framework.

  • Insight into how the role supports the green transition and adds value to society.

  • Information on where the role typically sits within an organisation.

To make them even more practical, we have also created visual versions of each Skill Card — easy to use in classrooms, training sessions, presentations, or workforce planning.

Who Are the Skill Cards For?

The Skill Cards are practical tools for:

  • Education and training providers – to inspire new curricula and course design.

  • Employers – to guide recruitment, upskilling, and workforce planning.

  • Policymakers – to align funding and training with real-world needs.

  • Learners and workers – to explore new opportunities and plan career paths.
