New Online Training Modules Now Available
The first ChemSkills online training modules are now available, marking an important step in the development of the ChemSkills learning offer.
Developed by the University of Twente, the new modules give learners the opportunity to build knowledge and practical understanding in areas relevant to the chemical and rubber industries through flexible, self-paced online learning.

- Bio-based raw materials: Cellulose – an introduction to cellulose, including its production, properties, commercial applications and functionalisation for different industrial uses.
- Bio-based raw materials: Lignin – explores lignin as an important bio-based raw material, including its production, properties, applications and possibilities for functionalisation.
- Cellulose as bio-based ingredient in rubber compounds – focuses on the use of cellulose as a sustainable ingredient in rubber compounds, particularly for tyre applications, including processing, performance and safety considerations.
- Cure Characterization (MDR) Test Training – Rubber – introduces Moving Die Rheometer testing and the key parameters used to evaluate the vulcanisation behaviour of rubber compounds.
- DIN Abrasion Test Training – explains how abrasion testing is used to assess the wear resistance of rubber compounds, including specimen preparation, testing procedures and interpretation of results.
- Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) Test Training – introduces DMA testing and the evaluation of the viscoelastic behaviour of rubber, including its relationship to tyre performance.
- Hardness Test Training – Rubber – covers Shore A hardness testing, including measurement principles, specimen preparation, testing procedures and interpretation of hardness values.
- Mooney Viscosity Test Training – Rubber – introduces Mooney viscosity testing as a method for evaluating the processability of rubber compounds and understanding factors affecting viscosity.
- Payne Effect Test Training – Rubber – explores the Payne effect and its use in assessing filler dispersion, filler networks and interactions within rubber compounds.
- Rebound Resilience Test Training – Rubber – introduces rebound resilience testing for evaluating the elastic recovery and damping behaviour of rubber compounds.
- Tensile Test Training – Rubber – covers tensile testing and key mechanical properties such as tensile strength, elongation at break and modulus.
